Unxpectd. What started with a few highschool friends from Lexington, Kentucky teaching themselves to sew and making T-Shirts in mom's basement has turned into a social-media-fueled streetwear phenomenon... Ryan Sullivan, founder and CEO of Unxpectd, caught early wind of the social media app TikTok's potential. He made an account and posted every day, trying to build an audience that he could eventually funnel through to his brand. One night, he decided to make a post showing off the company he and his friends created. The post went viral. Orders from all over started to come in (fire me up). The Unxpectd team doubled down on TikTok. They focused on getting famous influencers to wear their products and share the Unxpectd brand with their audiences. It worked. And why wouldn't it? TikTok is setting the trends. Since their initial breakthrough, the Unxpectd team (now a group of seven) decided to move to Los Angeles to be closer to the action and pursue their dreams in the fashion industry.
