Come Get Your Ears Lowered

For some, the barbershop is a sanctuary. For others, it’s a rip-off. And the rest of us? Well, we just want a trim. We’re in the middle. Speaking of the middle, when Chris Bentley was transitioning from the restrictive corporate world to the haircutting industry, he started a blog. It was his way of sharing his struggles, achievements, and ideas in a new career that he knew nothing about. He called the blog The Barber Story...

Later, he opened his own barber shop, and gave it the same name. Getting a haircut at The Barber Story is far from boring. If you go once, you’ll never go somewhere else. It’s a time and a half. And the crew? Well, they’re even more not-boring. The Barber Story is home to Jimbo--a long hair expert, Liz--an avid fisherwoman, Chase--a marine, and Chris.

Chris used to work in customer service, but he wanted to do something different (we don’t blame him). He ditched the keyboard for scissors. He graduated barber school in 2015 and eventually opened up the shop in Boise, Idaho. He’s an absolute character. He has a variety of interests, including getting tattoos and officiating the odd wedding. Chris went from wasting away in corporate America to making people look their best and living freely.

Sure, they all cut hair. That’s what pays the bills. But The Barber Story also lets barbers be themselves. They’re humans, not robots. They trim fades on the side so that they can live life. Here at Freshly Squeezed, that’s what we believe business should be. A vessel that lets people do cool sh**.

P.S. Have you wondered why every single barber shop has one of those red, white, and blue spinning poles outside? Well, you should check it out. FGI (
f’ing google it). I’ll give you a hint, they’re not candy canes. It has to do with blood, bandages, and surgery.
